My Project
Students in grades 2-5 are still trying to overcome delays in reading caused with COVID shut down. I am using Really Great Reading with my students on an IEP and I have seen great results with this program! Students used the virtual component in small group setting using the teacher laptop and going through the each slide and presentation with the teacher, visuals, and reading the material together. Students started not knowing all the letters in August to being able to read short vowel words with blends. At the beginning of the school year students tested on PreK.9 and K.7 grade level. I gave the KTEA again in May and the scores increased to 2.1 and 2.8! This program works!
All students receiving remedial reading can have the same results with Really Great Reading full curriculum; Countdown, Blast, and HDWord.
Students will use the virtual component with the teacher in the small group setting, have access to all the visuals, letter tiles, and Really Great Reading independent practice. Students will have access to all three levels of Really Great Reading to meet their current academic needs and foster individual growth. Countdown begins at a Kindergarten level of letter sound, identifying words, and blending sounds. Countdown breaks apart words c-v-c words, teaches blends, digraphs, and two syllable words, and long vowels. HDWord is a powerful intervention to teach all syllable types. In all three components of Really Great Reading, students are intense reading instruction at their own level with a multi sensory approach. With your generosity will see students on a reading plan increase reading levels by at least 1.5 grade levels. When you give to this project you will be the backbone of academic reading success to almost 200 students!
