This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are amazing. They are bilingual students who seek after knowledge and give their best effort no matter what. Our goal is to build a love for reading, so we decided to have reading workshops in class. The learning objective of this lesson is that Students will be able to demonstrate the routines of reader's workshop through shared participation. The students will gather students to the rug. The teacher will start the lesson by introducing the focus of the lesson and introducing a familiar text. The teacher will encourage students to choose a book of their own interest. The student will have a reading log where they will be writing important information about the reading. After students finish the reading, the teacher will encourage students to share ink pair share about the book the choose. The students will have a Socratic Seminar where each day they will be talking of a book that their classmates chose. The Socratic Similar will take place on the classroom library. The materials that we chose will help the students to feel more comfortable during independent and group reading. This is the reason why we would like to create a classroom library adequate for all the students. We would like to make a cozy space for the students. We need flexible seating and a printer to print out reading logs. This will be a great experience for the students.
