My Students

Alfred Mercier states, "What we learn with pleasure, we never forget." I do not want my students to learn because they have to, I want them to learn because they want to. My students have many demands on them every day. It is my job to create a love of learning and a feeling of success.

This is my first year teaching first grade.

I teach in a public school within a very small community. My classroom consists of 8 boys and 12 girls. They are the most amazing group of students I have ever had. I absolutely love teaching each and every one of them. My classroom consists of a variety of learners and they all have different needs. My classroom is full of unique individuals and when I think of my students, these words come to my mind: sensitive, funny,talkative, outgoing, smart, over-active, defiant, sweet, collaborator, leader, confident, shy, self-conscious, companion, artist, musician, singer, dancer, athletic, and problem-solver. It is very important that my students feel a sense of security and belonging in the classroom. Together we have created a positive classroom environment where everyone learns.

My Project

I have requested the Lakeshore Math Literature set and a portfolio organizer. They will build mathematical concepts through literature and help promote independence. This set With these books, students will begin to enjoy mathematics and learn a variety of mathematical concepts taught in the first grade curriculum. My first-grade students will also benefit from the portfolio organizer. This will help students learn independence. They will begin to take responsibility for their own belongings and learn how to stay organized.

I hope to instill in my students a love of learning and a sense of independence.
