This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, in 11th grade English language arts, among the books we will be reading are Sandra Cisneros' "The House on Mango Street" and William Golding's "Lord of the Flies."

Obtaining classroom sets of these two amazing works of literature will help our students develop both a love for reading and a greater understanding of the world around them.

The students at this highly diverse, low-income high school struggle with their reading skills, so being able to share these two classics with them will greatly improve their chances for developing an appreciation for literature and help them have success going forward.
