This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day excited for the new challenges that await them that day. Each day they are reminded that they were selected to be in my class because I asked for the best students in the school and that's exactly what I got. I let them know that they can do anything if they believe in themselves as much as I believe in them.

I teach at a Title I school in Las Vegas where more than half of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

Many of their families struggle just to make ends meet. You would never know it from the passion and enthusiasm they show each morning when they come to our classroom. They want to be here because they know that if they give their best, they can achieve anything in life.

My Project

Dental hygiene is important to a growing child but a lot of the kids in my community can always afford basic things like dental floss and toothbrushes. I don't want these basic human needs to be something my students have to worry about. If we provide them with the tools needed for basic oral hygiene, then that's one less avenue of stress for my tsudents.

Did you know that this year is one of the highest pollen counts on record in Las Vegas?

This has lead to a greater number of students missing school due to allergies. Coughing and sneezing can lead to head colds if students aren't properly taking care of the germs on their hands. Hand sanitizer, tissues, and soap will help eliminate these germs from my classroom. These materials will make a huge difference in the lives of my students because it will lead to them being able to come to school more often. A student can't learn if they're not in school
