My Students

At the end of this school year I want all of my special education students to have amazing social language skills that allow them to be successful at school, home and life!

I work with 55 hard working speech and language impaired students.

My students attend an urban art focus elementary school and work extremely hard to improve their communication skills. My students have a variety of disabilities that interfere with their ability to clearly express their ideas in the regular classroom.

My Project

A television and sturdy stand will allow my students to project the social videos that they have been preparing on the screen. My students learn social skills such as carrying on a conversation or taking turns. After they learn the skill and can discuss it and role play it correctly, they tape the skill being successfully carried out on our iPads. My students need a television that we can use to project the video they have developed.

By having a television on a sturdy stand my students will be able to critique their use of a particular communication skill and if it was used correctly.

They will also be able to share their videos to help teach other students communication skills. My students are excited to take this activity to the next level.
