My Project

My students live in a rural community in eastern South Dakota. Even though we live in a small town, my students are just like any other first grader. They are energetic, creative, full of personality, and love to learn! My goal is to help them become lifelong readers and learners.

All kids can learn to love reading if they are introduced to the right books!

Please help me get exciting, captivating pictures books into the hands of eager readers. It is fun for me to model reading fun books by using voice and expressions throughout the stories. Then my students grab those same books from our classroom library and reread the stories with their peers. I love listening to them "read" (or retell) the story with excitement in their voices and in their eyes!

The books I have chosen will be added to our classroom library, or replacing the same well-loved book that has been taped up one too many times.
