My classroom is made up of a diverse group of students, as is the entire elementary school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school qualifies for Title I funding, which means many of the students I teach come from low-income homes. Many of these students face difficulties that most could not begin to imagine. The students in my classroom also are very diverse in their academic abilities. I have students that read on an 8th grade level mixed in with students who read at or below a 2nd grade level. While celebrating and incorporating all students' experiences, I also strive to meet our school's STEAM standards. STEAM integration places focus on science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics to create a rich and meaningful learning environment for students from all walks of life.
