Gravity in Action: Hands-On Learning With Inclined Planes

My Project

I love how curious, creative, and collaborative my students are. They thrive when they’re given opportunities to explore science with their hands and minds working together. My students ask thoughtful questions, support one another in their learning, and get excited when they can connect classroom concepts to real-world experiments. I want to continue nurturing their passion for learning by giving them meaningful, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and build confidence in STEM.

The Carolina Introduction to Gravity Kits will allow my students to step into the role of young scientists.

Working in teams, they will recreate some of the most important physics experiments in history — investigating how gravity and acceleration work. By rolling different objects down an inclined plane and measuring their motion with simple tools, students will gather data, calculate acceleration, and test scientific hypotheses in real time.

This kit makes abstract concepts like velocity, gravity, and acceleration tangible and accessible. It supports collaborative learning, inquiry-based thinking, and builds essential scientific skills such as measurement, observation, and data analysis. With enough materials to support 12 small groups, every student will get a chance to be actively involved.
