This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students are primarily from the surrounding South Los Angeles region. Our students are active, enthusiastic learners who use their unique talents and intelligence to empower themselves and others. Students acknowledge global responsibility and make a positive impact. Our student body is made up primarily of 94.1% Hispanic or Latino, with the school-wide socioeconomic disadvantage of 86.3%. They are a great group in that they are critical thinkers driven by positivity. They help each other and know how to become active members of their community.

My Project

Students will receive a set of pencils that will help them better understand shading, texture and more elements and principles of art and design. They will get a variety of lessons, from introductions to the proper use of the varied valued Graphite pencils, to how to create portraits, and life studies. The pencils are great as they are usable for multiple projects throughout the school year, and are way to send home with the students during this time of distance learning. The students will each get a set of 6 different values pencils along with erasers for their projects.
