My students need a TI-84 Plus graphing calculator and the TI-Smartview software.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Yates's classroom raised $396
This project is fully funded
I teach Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus to 10th - 12th grade. Funds for education in the State of Oklahoma are harder to get from one year to the next.
Do you remember graphing when you were in Algebra? About the time you got the hang of graphing one kind of equation, then something happened to the equation that made it change. It is very time consuming. Students need to see a lot of graphs in order to understand them. The graphing calculator allows students to see a lot of graphs in a short amount of time. This method allows the teacher to place several graphs on the same plane, allowing students to see what is making the graph transform.
I need a Texas Instrument 84-Plus calculator and the Texas Instrument Smartview to connect to the calculator in order for students to see what is happening to the graph on a large screen. The graphing calculator allows students to see a lot of graphs in a short amount of time. It allows them to discover what it is in the equation that is making it move up/down and left/right. The Smartview allows the teacher to present the material on an overhead screen for all students to see. The smartview shows the keystrokes the teacher used on the calculator, therefore allowing students to go at their own pace when they are using their own graphing calculator.
If you can remember graphing when you were in Algebra, I am sure you can understand how you can make a difference by supporting this project. If only this kind of technology were around when I was young.
