My students need calculators to aid in building a strong foundation for their math skills. Having a strong foundation will build their confidence in their ability to succeed in higher education and the workforce!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 9-12th grade special education students who are extremely driven, goal-oriented, and bright individuals that are eager to learn and pursue goals past high school. They possess a passion that encourages education and knowledge and they strive to succeed in and out of the classroom. While not all college track, my students all express interest in joining the workforce after high school and contributing to society and our economy. Our students come from a very large and diverse area in New Jersey where resources can be scarce. I want to provide my students with the best opportunity to reach their potential and not have to worry if they have the tools to succeed in the classroom.

My Project
Texas Instruments calculators are excellent in helping to establish skills which is key for my students. They will use them daily to solve problems relative to life skills and college prep. Life is full of numbers. Math is a part of a life skill. Grocery shopping, buying a car or home, paying taxes - all skills we strive to teach our students before sending them out into the real world.
Many high school students, particularly students like mine, struggle to see why we need math education.
Whether they strive to be a doctor, educator, athlete, contractor, mechanic, or anything else - my goal is the same: to show them how math will be useful in their future.
