Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students struggle to see mathematics all around them. Math is often thought of as either counting actual objects, or as full of concepts that are too abstract and disconnected from the real world. Students struggle with seeing real-world connections to the abstract ideas they have to tackle in Algebra 2.

These graphing calculators will help my students to visualize the functions they are transforming and make them more tangible.

Working with data sets, my students will be able to explore trends, patterns, and trends in data they collect and input as a way to see the practical application of what they are learning in class.

These graphing calculators will support the development of critical thinking skills for my students with learning difficulties such as Autism, ADHD, and Specific Learning Disabilities. These graphing calculators will allow my students to see and try different approaches to describing and solving problems, as well as supporting their analysis of what data sets show them. Graphing calculators will help my students prepare for college and careers in science, engineering, and business by helping them discover future applications of mathematical reasoning and concepts.
