We use a projection system during our lessons; but our mini-notebook does not have a CD drive so we have to convert our software into virtual drives, and the screen resolution of our mini-notebook is not compatible with most of the software that we can use for our lesson.
I teach AP Calculus and Physics to high school scholars in a high-need community in New York.
For the past couple of months, my scholars have shown a lot of growth in their conceptual understanding. I remember them coming out from the AP Calculus exam all excited about their performances. As for my Physics students, every time I assess them, they all tell me that, "Mr D, the test was very easy I just made some mistakes". At this point, I feel very confident that they have developed positive feelings about physics. I credit their achievement to the available technology that we have been using to facilitate the teaching of the concepts.
My Project
With this new laptop, we will be able to cross all limitations and introduce new resources to describe and derive most of, if not all, the concepts in our curriculum. With visual representations of some real-life phenomena, the students can easily understand and derive mathematical models to explain the related concepts. Last but not least, we will continue to reduce the amount of paperwork needed for our lessons.
Technology being the cornerstone for our education and way of life, I think that our scholars need to be introduced to it, and be prepared to use it, during their higher education.
With your help, I can assure you I will make sure that our scholars get ready for college by the time they graduate.
