My Project

As a reading teacher, my job is to get kids excited about reading. In 5th grade, I have students who read at a variety of levels and have a wide range of interests. Providing books that span a variety of topics and ability levels is key to success. The more books available to students, the more likely they are to find the book that gets them hooked on reading! This project helps replace a few books, add some series that I was missing, and includes a ton of graphic novels.

Graphic novels are a great starting point for reluctant readers.

I have had several students read a graphic novel and then switch to the regular novel. They are a great way to get kids reading and come in such a wide variety now! I started with a few this year, and as I watch kids latch onto them, I keep adding whenever possible!
