Graphic Novels That Hook New and Struggling Readers

Help me give my students graphic novels that they love! I have surveyed my students and these are the books they would love to see in our class library! These books vary in levels and areas of interest.

My Students

The students at our school are a wonderful, diverse group of children that love to read! Our students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Our school community represents more than 30 countries. We are a community of engaged learners, who are focusing this year on growing our love of reading! "Learning to Serve, Serving to Learn" is our school motto. Our students are engaged in lessons focused on giving back to the community and creating an inclusive environment.

My Project

These series are the books that my students have requested. I have a “Dear Ms. T.” box and I have gotten several notes requesting these graphic novels. These novels allow all of my students to get the experience of reading a chapter book that engages them with pictures. The graphics encourage my resistant readers to believe in themselves and begin to see themselves as readers. I believe all kids have the ability to fall in love with reading. Starting with the books of their choice is key to their success.
