My Project

My students are avid readers of all types of literature. From realistic fiction to memoirs, they embrace all genres. One of their favorites is comic books. Indeed, we just finished reading the realistic fiction novel, Lunch Money, where the main character creates his own mini-comic book empire. This further piqued their interest in all things related to graphic novels and comic books!

Graphic novels and comic books appeal to all of my students.

Graphic novels not only appeal to the reluctant readers in my class, but it also taps into the creativity of all of my students. Visual literacy is an important means of fostering the development of lifelong readers. Many of my students are already connoisseurs of comics, while others are just beginning to embrace the pleasure of comics. Either way, this project will allow each of my students to have their own copy of the book, as we explore the wonderful world of graphic novels.
