Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of a combination of 32 students who are so excited to be back at school in person. They all come from a low-income community and their school receives free school lunch. They all have different: backgrounds, learning styles, and interests.

My Project

My students are enthusiastic about reading. Graphic novels are a tremendously popular format of books that my students love to check out. Graphic novels help my students build their vocabulary, make inferences, help with reading comprehension, and help increase their reading skills.

In order to meet the reading needs and wants of students, I'd love to increase our collection of graphic novels.

Some students read through them as fast as I can get them and I'd love to meet their eagerness and desire for more. The lines I currently have of students waiting for a single graphic novel is a bit long, so I hope to expand our selection so that all the students may find a graphic novel that piques their interest.
