This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Graphic novels are the most circulated and requested books in our school library. During each library visit my students consistently request MORE graphic novels! Avid readers have read through our entire graphic novel collection and are in need of more books.

Graphic novels captivate, inspire, and continue to develop my students' love of reading, a gift that will last a lifetime.

I am requesting 50 high interest and high demand graphic novels for my voracious readers. These books will expand our graphic novel collection in our school library to keep up with student interests and demand. This project will also bring a greater selection of graphic novels and comics for my youngest students and will help introduce students to new authors and graphic novels.

My students are drawn to realistic and relatable stories. Similar new books, such as "Shiny Misfits," "Timid," and "Meet Me on Mercer Street," will continue to captivate students who are looking for realistic fiction graphic novels. My students have devoured Kazu Kibuishi’s Amulet series and Tui T. Sutherland's Wings of Fire graphic novels. This project will bring new fantasy graphic novels, such as "The Moth Keeper" and "Ember and the Island of Lost Creatures" to our library.

Additionally, my youngest readers will enjoy reading "The Great Puptective," "Beak and Ally," and "WOMBATS." These engaging books will bring so much excitement to my students and will continue to cultivate their love of reading.
