My Students

I have some of the hardest working fourth graders. They live in a very rough neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis, but they do not let that get in the way of their education. My students have a desire to learn and do not let the distractions of their home lives get in the way of that.

Our school strives to push students to their full potential with a special focus on reading and math.

We are a Title I School with limited resources; yet, our students strive to be the absolute best. Last school year, we far exceeded most schools in the district. It was the best year our school has ever had! This was achieved through hard work from both teachers and students.

My Project

BANG! POW! ZOOM! My students LOVE graphic novels and comics. Unfortunately, they have limited access to them. Be a super hero for my super readers! I am requesting an assortment of graphic novels for my classroom library.

Every week when we go to the school library for book exchange, my students are disappointed to hear that their favorite selections are already checked out.

My students are missing out on reading genres that they enjoy and I want to provide them with the opportunity to develop a love of reading through the types of books they love. Reading is an enjoyable activity for them, and through your help we can help create lifelong readers!

My students love books, but they want interesting ones that capture their imagination. Unfortunately, they have very little access to these types. By giving them the books they are desperate for, they can settle down in a comfortable place in the classroom and continue to discover what a pleasure reading really is.
