Our students are excellent examples of their school's mission to THINK critically, COMMUNICATE effectively and ACT responsibly in an ever-changing global community. They plan to go far in their studies and are preparing themselves for college. These students have high expectations for themselves to succeed in school and beyond. Many students make productive use of their free time by studying in the library and getting ahead in their classes. They are great examples of hard work, dedication, and a strong drive to succeed.
My Project
Young people these days are inundated with media left and right. Screens are constantly playing in front of them. While learning can take place on screens, it is important to give students an opportunity to be entertained on a page, rather than a screen.
These popular shows based on books are great transitions for students to explore both screens and the printed page.
Students are often more likely to pick up a book because they have heard of the story before thus leading them to want to explore more books.
Help me provide more graphic novels to those readers who are more likely to resonate with this format of story. Your help with this project will help me reach students who didn't know they liked to read until they found the books right for them.
