Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is home to a wonderfully diverse student population. Our students come from a wide range of racial and cultural backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences to our learning community. We celebrate these differences and encourage students to share what makes them special.

As the school librarian, I strive to create an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and welcome.

I also believe it’s essential to provide resources that help students better understand issues related to racial justice and representation.

To support this goal, I am requesting a collection of graphic novels that highlight themes of racial equity, explore the complexities of identity, and celebrate cultural diversity. These engaging, visual stories will not only complement classroom learning but also foster empathy, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging.

By adding these books to our library, we will empower students of all backgrounds to learn about systemic racism, cultural pride, resilience, and the power of advocacy. These titles will spark meaningful conversations and help students see themselves—and others—with greater understanding and compassion.
