My Project

Our students love to read. Independent reading with books of their own choosing from our library is so important in maintaining and fostering that love. One area of our library that needs continued growth is our graphic novel collection. My goal for this project is to update our library with more graphic novels.

Graphic novels are well-loved and beneficial to students for many reasons.

Graphic novels keep students’ attention with their strong images and fast pace. They guide connections between words and images providing a deeper understanding of the story line. They are also of high interest of our refugee population while they are learning English. A new collection of graphic novels for our library would provide materials to students of different reading abilities and interests and help create positive reading experiences for all students.
