My Project

Graphic Novels - After Covid, remote learning, and social distancing pushed so much of our content and curriculum into digital format over the last 3 years, I am ready to get my students excited about reading real books again! My students have a wide variety of reading abilities and interests, and they need a classroom library full of books that are exciting and accessible to them.

Graphic novels can inspire a love of reading in reluctant readers, visual learners, and emergent readers; there is also definitive research showing that reading books that combine images and text is as cognitively challenging as text-only reading.

Ipads - Our 2 current iPads were donated to our classroom in 2012, and while they have been used and enjoyed by many classes of students over the last 10 years, they are mostly unusable now and we are ready for an upgrade! iPads serve an important purpose in my classroom - they serve as a powerful motivator for students to complete their work, as well as a fun and engaging way for students to practice skills from letter identification to sight words and spelling.
