Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
LCA is a school located in the Fruitvale Neighborhood of Oakland, CA. The makeup of the school is 98% students of color and 91% of students come from low-income families. There are currently 92 students who have disabilities and have either an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 plan. This wishlist is to help supplement what we have in our classroom that students need and feel strongly about. We have noticed great success with the use of noise-canceling headphones and bouncy chairs to help students continue to engage in rigorous content. The books that are included in this wishlist include graphic novels that our students have been enjoying recently and graphic novel versions of books they're being asked to read in class. We want to continue to foster a sense of enjoyment and fun when it comes to reading and these materials will help!
