My Project

As an English Language Arts teacher in Ohio, I am always looking for exciting and challenging new texts to engage my students. Many young people today have a particular love for graphic novels and literature. It's always exciting to have the opportunity to present this medium to my students.

My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf is an exciting, award-winning graphic novel focusing on the author's youthful relationship with a monster and would make for an exciting addition to our yearly English curriculum.

This book comes from the well-researched perspective of a master cartoonist and Ohio native Derf Backderf. It pairs art, history, and literature in an exciting way and with your support, could open the eyes of many young people to a past tragedy that remains relevant today.
