Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Graphic design students create and design everything from bulletin board displays to promotional materials. We are a trimester school with three sections to the year. By the beginning of the third trimester I want my students to have a professional portfolio that will enable them to start freelancing
Students at our school are over-age, under-credited high schoolers.
Our Graphic Design Career Pathway students learn valuable skills in the graphic arts. These students are eager to learn, create, and work. They support our staff by creating custom posters, flyers, business cards, and bulletin board materials.
My Project
Students will be able to print work on demand. This specific printer will enable students to make strategic design choices that include different paper types including vellum, matte, and canvas. This printer produces stunning photo prints appropriate for a professional level portfolio. Armed with paint and bulletin board supplies, students can create custom displays that compliment student or school centered work.
As students work towards graduation it is important to prepare them for the next step.
An essential component that will prepare my graphic design students for the next step is a strong portfolio. In the next 5 to 6 months students will be producing a large body of work at the request of school staff. Armed with the proper tools students will build a focused portfolio that will help them get into college, gain employment, or continue freelancing.
