This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is in the heart of Queens, and as a result my students come from all over the world. Many of these children are learning English for the first time, and as a result struggle expressing themselves through writing.
This is where I come in!
With me, students are able to create digital presentations any way they can. Through the computer students have access to software that allows them to present what they are learning with their classroom teachers in many different ways; instead of just writing an essay or book report. This keeps my young learners engaged and eager to learn, no matter what the subject!
My Project
While my students love creating no matter what, I am always looking for fun ways for my students to present what they are learning and I think I have found something: comics!!! I am currently using a trial version of Comic Life software with my students as a fun way to tell stories about the importance of being safe on the internet and they LOVE it!
Through these comics my students are telling amazing stories and it has been so fun watching what they come up with, all while learning about internet safety!
They are doing such amazing work with this quick project while using the trial version of Comic Life, that I am eager to start more detailed projects with full access to the software!
