This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Doing Math in a graph notebook with 3rd graders is very valuable. More than numbers can be learned with graph paper, such as lines, shape, patterns, geometrics, spacing, etc. One notebook is good for Math Daily Review for the entire year. Each page is divided into 4ths, and each 4th has a specific standard review. One can be rounding, the other multiplying, the other number sense, and so on (the review depends on the focus or emphasis of the week).

Also, students learn the importance of digit placement (place value), and are able to practice throughout the year in their notebook pages by lining up numbers and equations.

This practice becomes more noticeable when students start to see how patterns are formed, sizing occurs, and shapes are created with graph paper.
