My Project

I want to introduce an initiative that integrates Chess into our School’s S.T.E.M. program. This will provide students with a unique opportunity to develop critical thinking and strategic planning skills. Students will participate in weekly chess sessions designed to enhance their understanding of S.T.E.M. concepts, promote cognitive development, and increase academic achievement. I am confident that this program will ignite a passion for S.T.E.M. and set our students on a path to lifelong learning and success.

It is crucial for students to develop resilience, strong critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills.

Despite the proven benefits of chess in fostering these abilities, and our student's enthusiasm for playing, our school lacks the resources for a chess program. This grant will enable us to purchase chess sets and instructional materials to implement this valuable program now and in the future.

I expect the chess club to enhance student engagement by increasing student interest and participation in STEM subjects through chess-related activities and challenges. Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through regular chess instruction and play. Strengthen students' teamwork and communication skills through healthy competition and strategic discussions. Improve academic achievement by fostering cognitive development and promote lifelong learning and interest in S.T.E.M.

I plan to Introduce students to the game of chess and progressively develop their skills through unique approaches. We will end the year with a chess tournament. I will integrate S.T.E.M. by emphasizing mathematical concepts (such as patterns, and probability through chess exercises) and Problem-solving (through student analysis of chess positions, related mathematical problems, engineering challenges inspired by chessboard patterns, and technology lessons on coding and algorithms related to chess).
