Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty area. I teach all subjects to 2nd graders that are eager to learn. Many of them are below grade level in math.
My students desperately need something to help them get excited about math! They do not enjoy “worksheet” style learning; yet, my students need a way to practice what they have learned. My goal is for them to walk in my classroom and be eager about learning and practicing math skills.
I am looking for a way through the game to work on adding, subtracting, place value, telling time, and counting money. These skills are a part of our state standards and are necessary for students to become successful math students. My second graders have different learning styles and I try to incorporate all of them into my teaching. Most students learn when they are doing hands-on activities and playing math games. The game Grand Slam Math is the way to incorporate skill practice and reinforce what is being taught in the classroom into fun and enjoying activity. Students spin to score a single, double, triple or home run building essential math skills as they play! The game is designed to sharpen problem solving skills and help students succeed on standardized tests. The Fact Family House is reinforcing an essential elementary math concept in a very stimulating for students manner.
Your support will help make it possible for my students to succeed (and enjoy) math. The games are a great way to help them learn to be excited about math, and help them to be successful. My students need the extra motivation and these resources will help get them to be more enthusiastic! Your gift will make it possible for these children to master second grade math skills in a fun way so they can succeed now and build the learning blocks for later math to be learned in third grade and beyond. Your gift will make a difference in the quality of math learning.
