Help! Grammar, Vocabulary, and Comprehension Needed.
I am a third grade teacher in a high-need community with many students who come from homes in which English is not the first language.
Since many of students come from homes where their parents don't speak English at all or don't speak English fluently, these students have difficulty learning the rules of the language.
As such, I would like to first introduce my students to such things as parts of speech, synonyms, and homophones. I have requested a set of books that I can read to my students to introduce them to grammatical topics. Then I would like to use workbooks to more carefully analyze some of the grammatical issues my students are faced with and give them direct instruction. I have requested a classroom set of workbooks that focus on grammar, parts of speech, vocabulary, and word usage. Lastly, I want to utilize games that are fun to engage them in continuous practice and reinforcement of the skills they are learning about. I have requested a complete set of reading comprehension games that focus on strengthen and reinforce the comprehension skills of my students in a fun and exciting way. I have also requested interactive and educational bingo games that focus on grammar, vocabulary, and word usage.
Your help will ensure that my students are more confident about themselves and their abilities to control the English language. This confidence will allow them to become stronger readers and writers.
