Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars love to learn every day they come to school. They enjoy movement and hands-on activities. I work in an all-girls school that is an open-enrollment campus with scholars coming from across the city. We use a 50/50 socioeconomic diversity model to ensure that 50 percent of student enrollment is made up of economically disadvantaged scholars, and the other 50 percent is composed of non-economically disadvantaged scholars.
We are proud to be an inclusive school community empowering girls to live and lead with confidence and purpose.
My scholars are some of the most hilarious, forgiving, and inquisitive children I have been around. Every day is a new adventure with them and you never know what the day is going to be like.
My Project
Fourth Graders in Texas take the STAAR Writing Test. I want my scholars to be not only prepared for this test but also to build writing skills that they will always use. It is important to create ways for scholars to be more engaged to have a deeper understanding of what they are learning.
Having hands-on activities will create the engagement the scholars need to be more excited to learn.
These grammar activities will allow scholars to be in charge of their own learning. Having resources available for scholars who are at different levels is a need that must be met.
