This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a group of 16 energetic and creative pre-kindergarten students that are four and five years old. All of my students come from low income homes. My students are creative and enjoy active learning.
I love that my students come to school every day ready to learn.
They are always asking to learn about things and I teach my lessons based on their interests. They are motivated and love to learn new things. Their favorite thing to do is art- especially experimenting and creating with paint!
My Project
My students LOVE art and being creative. Unfortunately, due to students coming from low income homes, the families are unable to purchase caps and gowns.
Instead, we will create graduation shirts.
Each child will get a shirt with everyone's hand print and name. Many children will not be together next year and this will be a way for them to remember all their friends and wonderful memories they have this year. Children will also wear these shirts on their final field trip- the zoo! The children are excited about this project. These shirts will be memories for years to come!
