Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves almost 400 New York City public school students. Ninety-four percent of the population are minority students. Eighty percent qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. About 30% are students with disabilities and English Language Learners.

We are a school that specializes in academics, and business.

We promote college and career readiness with year-round experiences that include many work-based and service-learning opportunities for all our hard-working students including those economically disadvantaged.

With our simulated business curriculum our students manage and run their own virtual company. Student employees actively compete all year in a wide range of competitions such as the National Business Plan Competition, Ad Futures, Mini Networking Events, Branding, Salesmanship, E-Commerce Website, Catalog, Video, Global Business Challenge, and NYC Trade Show.

These hard-working young entrepreneurs have had great success this year earning many honorable mentions and 1st place honors in several competitions. With school closures due to Coronavirus, their award ceremonies, celebrations, and graduations were canceled. For all their hard work, effort, and dedication to their programs they were never formally congratulated or celebrated. We are hoping through the compassion and generosity of Donnorschoose sponsors, we can offer that well-deserved congratulation awards.

My Project

Our awards are important because we want to encourage the younger entrepreneurship students to continue with the program, continue with being creative and innovative, strive to be the best, and take advantage of opportunities given. In doing so, you will improve your chances of success in both college and career choices.

New York Graduates were born in the year 2011; in spite of the economic disadvantages and personal hardships they made it through each and every school year, including hurricane Sandy and now through the Coronavirus pandemic.

They should be celebrated for all that they have accomplished as they move forward to the future.
