Can you imagine being in a classroom and not having the resources and supplies you need to be successful? My students need a classroom that has the supplies necessary to teach students with diverse needs.
I am a teacher in a public school that is located in an urban district.
My classroom consists of 20 students, 14 of whom are English Language Learners and 5 are on a Individual Education Plans for Special Education services that range from speech and language, occupational therapy, and academic support for learning disabilities. My students all have varying levels of English ranging from completely understanding spoken and written English, to not understanding any English at all. The majority of the students are Spanish speaking and are embracing the opportunity of helping their peers learn how to speak and write in English.
My Project
The laptop cart will be instrumental in organizing the laptops I have from a previous Donors Choose project, so that students can quickly access them when working with them in reading or math groups. The laser printer with the laminator will make it possible for me to print out materials like flash cards quickly so that my English Language Learners have the resources they need for vocabulary development. Also, the laminator will be helpful for students to create bookmarks and other tools to help engage them. The printer will also make it possible for students to print out their final writing projects and essays when using the chrome books instead of having to wait for me to print their work out after school.
The laptop cart, laminator and laser printer will make the resources in my classroom easier to access for my students.
My classroom will have the tools necessary to complete a multitude of projects in an organized fashion. I will not have to waste time searching and borrowing materials from other teachers. My students' learning time will be maximized!
