Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners mostly level 1-beginners.

They come mostly from poor families and are very weak in their own native language for which I teach them Spanish so that they can move on to start learning English.

They are very humble and need a lot of help. A lot of them are here after losing everything from hurricane in Puerto Rico. Living with relatives and some in shelters.

After students are stronger in their native language they can then go into the mainstream classroom and transfer their knowledge into a second language.

My Project

If we get this rug it will make our day so fun.

Students love meeting at the rug with the teacher.

It will be used for morning meetings, mini lessons and many other fun stuff. The floor is hard and cold which is the reason the students stay in their chairs.

Your donation will improve my students' reading and writing and academics as they will be more comfortable and I feel they were better engaged when gathered at the rug. Not to mention, it has the English alphabet where as I mentioned before, some students do not know their alphabet even in their native language.
