Gotta Be Quicker Than That!

My Students

My students spend so much time indoors playing video games when they are not in school. My students are energetic during the school day but rarely take the opportunity to play and interact with their peers after school in any fitness-related activities once they leave the school building.

My school is in an urban community where ninety-eight percent of my students receive free/reduced-price lunch with an increasing homeless student population.

Most of my students do not have access to playgrounds that are free from violence so structured play at school is very vital to their development.

I want to foster their love of both traditional and non-traditional sports and play while being actively involved in team sports at school.

My Project

I am requesting a team set of flag football sets in two colors as well as four junior footballs so that my team can be properly equipped when the flag football season starts up. I am requesting these materials so that when my team makes substitutions, my student-athletes do not need to take off and exchange their belts with another teammate who is ready to come in the game. These resources will allow for quick substitutions, improved sense of self as well as more confidence in their team when we are playing different opponents so that they do not feel like they are a second rate team when they can compete with the best in the city. The junior footballs are a higher quality material than the rubber balls that we have used in previous seasons and my students deserve to play with high-quality material instead of what is given as a donation because of lack of supplies
