Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing class of wonderful students who love to learn. The majority of my students are English Language learners that I meet with regularly in small groups so that I can address their diverse needs. Some of my students have specific needs in terms of their focusing and I’ve found that they need to be constantly moving or often readjusting in their chairs. I have one student on an exercise ball and this helps her A LOT. The only thing with those is that is they take too much space. The swivel stool will help those students that have those needs due to ADHD or other high activity need, and they fit right under a desk or table. Ideally my whole class would benefit but I know that would be too much to fund, so they can all benefit when I meet with students in small group on my back table. That is where my students would use and greatly benefit from the swivel stools.
My Project
I have several students that have difficulty focusing without constant movement. Regular classroom chairs make it difficult to wiggle for them due to their stationary nature. Ideally my entire class would benefit stools, but I understand the cost would be too much. Therefore if we could get 6, they’d get maximum learning when in small groups with me. I currently have some regular stationary stools which are becoming bent from the swiveling students naturally want to do as they learn. Having specialized stools that are meant to do that will optimize their learning! I have one student who uses a large exercise ball and although those are less expensive, they take up a bit more space. The stools fit right under desks/tables when not being used. Thank you for reading!!
