Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an amazing, vibrant collection of hungry artists in a Title 1 inner-city, coastal Connecticut community.
A warm breakfast will go a long way to quell an 8th grade where 30% have been suspended as many as 6 times.
Fridays are cereal day and attendance and morale can be impacted with a warm welcoming meal. We engage students as they navigate every kind of emotional and social challenge that you can imagine.
Economic need is high, but creative passion is even higher! Please help our creative and talented middle school students touch the wonderful materials they need to thrive and explore.
My Project
Title 1 middle school rapidly growing bodies are often hungry. Food security and family interactions are inconsistent for most of our students. To strengthen our community, we have been frying up pancakes and serving hundreds every week thanks to a previous generous donation through the CT opportunity project. Attendance and morale are now sky high on pancake day. We are running short on syrup and we would love to continue expand our community breakfasts with some extra mix. The cost per meal makes this such a HIGH impact per dollar. I cannot believe the power that a serving of pancakes and syrup is having on my intrepid students! Support us as we continue to reach every student and even parents on family Fridays this winter. Thanks to you, everyone will be greeted with a warm and handmade meal from the heart.
