My Students

"Where we start is not where we will finish," is the perfect statement to describe my students. They are often thought of as trouble-makers; however, my students are bright and want to learn. We work hard to dispel that stereotype.

The students in my class are economically challenged.

Despite this set back, I have seen some students come in below grade-level and leave scholars. However, it took a lot of work on their part. My school is in an inner city neighborhood and there are many who believe the only way out is through sports but I say NO.

My Project

In a title one school there is a forgotten population of students. This population of students are those whose parents make too much you qualify for free and reduced lunch but do not have enough money to eat lunch daily. A hot lunch is essential for the health of a well-rounded student. There are many students who come to class hungry because they can not have a hot lunch.

Have you ever encountered a "hangry" (hungry-angry) child?

They are upset at the world for what seems like no reason. However, the reason is they are starving. After a hot meal they are calm, cooperative, and ready to learn. My students need these hot lunch supplies.

After eating this lunch students usually need to go to the restroom. In our school restrooms, there is rarely toilet paper available. How can a young lady use the restroom without paper? The answer is, they can't. My students need to have the ability to the restroom and relieve themselves.
