This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students? Happy, enthusiastic learners is how I would describe them.

I work in a low socioeconomic area.

We have large number of English language learners. I too grew up in this area and returned to teach here to give back to my community. Our school believes in our students and works hard to provide a rigorous academic curriculum and real world experiences. Since our school is high performing, our budget is much smaller than lower performing schools. For this reason, it is necessary for teachers like myself to post projects on DonorsChoose.org to get the necessary materials we need for our students.

My Project

My students are excited writers! They enjoy publishing books and using technology. With their knowledge of Google Docs and their love of writing, this is the perfect time for my students to publish their books in print form.

My students need ink to publish their writing.

I purchased my own printer and ink for the classroom at the beginning of the school year, but that ink is almost gone. I know it's going to take a lot of ink for my students to publish their writing in print form.

In my efforts to have the students feel like authors, I believe printing their books will be beneficial and will reinforce their purpose as authors.
