This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever played a tubano drum? Have you ever performed in a drumming ensemble?
My students come to music ready to be involved in the process of making music.
They are also very creative and often amaze me with their talents for making original music. While our classroom has some drums, it is just enough for a third of the class. My students do share and are quite willing to wait to take a turn.
My Project
With the addition of two big drums, more students will be able to work on their drumming skills and spend time creating their own music. Composing original works is a regular part of our lessons and drums are a highly motivational means for involving even the most "rowdy" student.
Big drums inspire all students and are great for every level of student.
From the most disciplined to the least disciplined child, a big drum will motivate a student to be fully involved.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
