Imagine a culturally diverse high school with 41% of the students on free and reduced-price lunch, over 13 different languages spoken, and the majority of the families being first-generation immigrants. My school is that school. I am proud to be a teacher and athletic director in this culturally rich school located in San Francisco, California.
Now imagine six young women who come from different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and from all areas of San Francisco having one thing in common- a passion for playing golf.
These six young ladies make up the Girls Varsity Golf Team and I have the privilege to coach them. For the past five years, the Girls Varsity Golf Team has had five straight undefeated seasons and has qualified to compete each year in the NorCal Golf Championship.
The LHS Girls Golf Team is the reigning CIF San Francisco Golf Champions. In fact, the team has won the last five consecutive San Francisco championships. Through their hard work and drive, the LHS Girls Golf Team have proven themselves to be well deserved champions in San Francisco. Now the girls have an opportunity to put their skills to the test outside of San Francisco. This October, the girls have a chance to play in a golf tournament in Southern California. This tournament is an amazing opportunity for the girls to play in, as well as to stretch their self growth and their inner drive to constantly get better. The LHS Girls Golf Team definitely have the skills and drive to be successful in the tournament but lack one thing- the funds. Traveling for a sporting event not only takes a lot of time but it also takes a lot of money. The team needs help offsetting the cost of their travel. The team has raised money to fly to Southern California but need some help to pay the extra baggage fees to bring their golf clubs, too.
By helping to contribute towards the cost of the baggage fees, a huge financial burden will be lifted off the team's shoulders and will allow the girls the ability to focus on the tournament and enjoy the experience of the trip.
This wonderful tournament opportunity will not only challenge the team's golf game, but it will also give the girls an experience they will never forget. For most of the girls, this will be the first time they will travel to play in a tournament setting and this trip may inspire them to work towards playing golf at the collegiate level.
Our team works hard to negotiate the best pricing and selections available.View complete list Show less
