My Students

We work with a very unique group of students. They are extremely curious and driven. They are in a signature program that allows them the flexibility to move beyond the normal academic grade level standards. Including a signature Friday experience with cross curricular and real life integrated STEM unit simulations.

We work in simulations with students.

Past simulations include an animal prosthetic unit. In this unit, students chose an animal and created a back story for an injury requiring a prosthetic. They took inspiration from Winter the dolphin in Florida with a prosthetic tail. The students then had to research and learn the biomechanics of their animal. They took the initiative to interview veterinarians and then built a model/prototype of the prosthesis. The students presented to each other their animal and design (rats to horses and in between). Students then build scale prototypes and final products to present to our stakeholder group.

My Project

We are asking for help obtaining 4 air purifiers so that we have 1 for each middle school classroom. This will help students and parents feel more comfortable and confident in the air the children are breathing while working in a classroom setting. It will benefit students to attend school in person, work collaboratively and have the potential for greater social interaction. Students will also be able to complete hands-on science lab and simulations, rather than watching teacher digital demos and not being as immersed in the work. Students will have the ability to go from being a passive observer to an engaged learner.

Our goal is to help students be confident, comfortable, excited and engaged in every aspect of their school career during this unprecedented time in history.
