This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students will be learning to code after school. We hope to enter coding competitions throughout the school year that will help them improve their skills and encourage their interest in coding.
The coding club will be made up of 9-12th grade girls.
We hope to begin with this club in August of 2018. We plan to participate in the Hour of Code during this school year as well as attend a conference/meeting where the students can compete with their coding knowledge and robots.
My Project
What better way to learn about coding than with simple robots such as Sphero and Ozbot? Our students will be part of a school club after school that will teach them to code. We plan to start a Girls Who Code club and to eventually participate in the Hour of Code competition.
In order to succeed in coding, our students need to practice on real robots such as the Ozbot and Sphero.
These students will later use these robots to compete in coding competitions. Hopefully the robots will allow the students to become more familiar with coding and to learn about the career possibilities related to coding.
