The things I love most about my second graders is their ability to want to learn and explore through reading. When we are working on our lessons, students that finish early while waiting on the whole class to finish will go to the library and get a book to read. I asked them one time why do you get a book when you have your IPads they told me they like reading instead of being read to, it helps them build their vocabulary and sound out their words. I felt very proud in that moment to know that they wanted to learn through reading. We are in need of some new books to add to our library and a new carpet to sit on in our library corner. I think my students are worthy of new books, a new place to sit to enhance their love for reading, and exploring while learning.
