I am in an intensive special education inclusion classroom with 21 students. They love to learn and come to school every day. I am a dual certified teacher working with students with different learning styles and needs. We love using Go Noodle and doing brain breaks. We are in a school that teaches students in grades K-5. Our school is a home to almost 900 students and over 100 staff members. I teach in a Title I school where most students in my classroom come from low-income families.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the classroom that I want to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. We read every day—I read on the carpet to them, they read independently, and sometimes they read with a partner. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. The books chosen have been chosen with these students in mind. I have watched them read over the past month and have noticed the types of books that they are interested in. Students will be able to choose books which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
My strong readers enjoy engaging in a book club with me.
These books have been chosen in groups to help give my students more opportunities to be exposed to those books they love. Not only to they get to engage in reading these books, they have the opportunity to have an open and enriched discussion.
