My Project
This will be my second year teaching 3rd grade at an equity focused school. We are living in a society where technology rules and many kids do not have access to good quality books or even someone to read to them. Students also need quality examples of what good writing looks and sounds like.
Good quality books are a must in the classroom.
It has been proven that students who read regularly tend to perform better academically. Reading stimulates critical thinking, imagination and creativity. Quality books can help them reflect and make connections to their own personal experiences and increase their engagement with reading.
Sadly, my classroom is lacking in options for my students in this area. I want to foster a love for reading with teacher read alouds and discussions. I would like to share some old classics and even read new adventures with my students for the first time.
