Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my classroom is engaging, hands-on, with a high level of rigor. My kids are always asking me, "What are we doing in Science today?!?" as they pass me in the halls on their way to another class, because they are so excited about science.
My students come from a low socioeconomic, urban, downtown environment.
Their families are concerned with survival, not necessarily broadening the horizons of their children's world. That's where I come in. I get the opportunity to show these kids things they may otherwise never encounter in their daily lives. They give me their best each and every day because they know a good education is the key to betterment.
My Project
My 7th graders will learn everything there is to learn about the human body throughout the course of this year. This is a highly important concept for them to understand. Our children need to understand how the body works in order to lead healthy lives as adults. Being able to see a skeleton, having a focus wall and playing a Systems of the Human Body game will help them connect their new knowledge to something concrete.
Donations to my project will help improve the depth of knowledge in my classroom.
Teaching science is my passion, I love my job, but I ask you... How would you teach kids about their bodies without a skeleton to refer to? Your donations would benefit my kids this year, and for years to come. Helping me solidify their understanding of their bodies, so they can grow up to live healthy lives.
